What is the BS 5395-1:2010 standard?

For stair going, you should choose between 250mm and 400mm. These are considered to be the optimal parameters to ensure the safety of the staircase.
When you consider the optimal stair clear width, there are no strict values in the rules. It is known that the minimum width is 800 mm. The most important thing is that the staircase is convenient for the passage of at least two people going to meet each other. Usually, customers choosea 900 mm stair clear width.
The steps should have closed treads to eliminate the possibility of falling through the gaps. We should also tell you about the handrails. Their height should be between 900 and 1000 mm, with secure fixings and no sharp corners.
Requirements for Public Staircases
